THE SENTINELS APPEAR IN ARGO 5

I know I haven't put much news out lately, but that doesn't mean things haven't been happening. I had to wait for a little while to announce this, but there will be some brand new SENTINELS pages brought to by myself and the ever-talented Luciano Vecchio! Our friend, Dan Sehn, who is the creator and writer of another Indie comic called ARGO 5, asked Luciano and I to contribute to his next ARGO 5 Anthology. I'm a big fan of Dan's, so I was very happy to be involved. I also enjoy a lot of the interesting characters Dan has created in his universe and had a blast writing them. And an added bonus for Luciano and I, was that Dan also wanted us to have the SENTINELS appear in the story. Now, it's only four pages, but believe me, Luciano and I crammed a lot in those four pages and I think the story turned out great (yes, it's finished, lol). I can't wait to see the book printed and read the other Indie creator's work that are involved. At this time, I'm not sure what the release date is for the book. But as soon as I find out, I'll post something. I'll also check when it's okay to post a panel or two from the story. I can say that the story fits nicely into SENTINELS continuity and takes place after SENTINELS Book 4: Hope, but before the first SENTINELS Anthology. The SENTINELS that appear are Crusher, Flare, Gospel and Phazer. There's also one other character from our series that makes an appearance and it explains a little about that character that we didn't get to show. I want to thank Dan for asking us to be involved. It was an honor to contribute to what's shaping up to be a great book. I've attached the cover of ARGO 5 first issue and you can check out more of them at http://www.argocomics.com/ . More info soon!!!!

SERPENTA BY TIM FISCHER

This sketch of Serpenta in her costume from SENTINELS Book 4: Hope, was drawn by the extremely talent Tim Fischer at the 2010 Pittsburgh Comicon. Tim is writer and artist on the hilarious "Space Pilot Girl: In the Steal of the Night" and "Life with The Wife", both of which you can read for free on his website at www.comix-mill.com . Be warned though, it is definitely adult humor on these comics. But if you aren't easily offended, they're really funny. I'm almost afraid to meet his wife after reading "Life with The Wife", lol. Almost, but I'm sure it's not all true. On top of all this, Tim is one of the nicest guys I've met at a convention and I'm really mad that I'd never gotten a sketch by him before. Especially after seeing how awesome this sketch of Serpenta turned out. The scan doesn't do it justice. Have a good laugh and check out Tim's work at the site above!

JACK FROST COMMISSION

Here's another commish I got recently. This is an original character named Jack Frost. And, yeah, I know that Jack Frost is not an original character, but this version of him is. Jack Frost was drawn in pencil and ink and then colored using Prismacolor markers. I really love working with the markers. They make everything look so good. :)

FIREBOMB BY SARA RICHARD

Here's the first of the excellent sketches I got at this year's Pittsburgh Comic Con. This sketch of Firebomb was done by Sara Richard. Sara graduated from The Columbus College of Art & Design and is a designer at Hasbro where she gets to design toys. How cool is that? I really love Sara's free flowing style and line work. It's energetic and fresh! She's also super cool and friendly. Check out more of Sara's work at http://www.sararichard.com/ .

SIN BY KHARY RANDOLPH

Here is the last of the sketches I got at the 2010 MOCCA Con. Sin was drawn by one of my favorite artists, Khary Randolph. Khary always does incredible work and Sin really shines here. I love the angle and emotion he put into this one. This is the fourth sketch I've gotten by him and probably my favorite.

RIP FRANK FRAZETTA

Yesterday, news broke that the legendary artist, Frank Frazetta passed away. Frank was 82 years old and his art ranged from Conan the Barbarian to Shining Knight to Vampirella. He was a master at painting realistic characters in unrealistic settings. Frank is probably best known for his futuristic and fantasy paintings and his amazing figure work inspired a generation of artists. Who in comics has never seen his classic Death Dealer or Moon Maid or Princess of Mars? Frank will forever be known and missed by comic and scifi fans around the world. RIP Frank.

FIREBOMB BY BOBBY TIMONY

Here's a very cool sketch I got from Bobby Timony at the 2010 MOCCA convention. Bobby, along with his twin brother, Peter, are the creative team behind one of Zuda's webcomics called Night Owls. The story of Night Owls is really unique. It features focuses on a detective agency that solves supernatural or odd cases, only the detective agency employees are themselves supernatural or odd. lol. It's also set in the 20s which I found very interesting. I don't want to give away too much of the series because it's REALLY worth reading and you can read it for free on Zuda at www.zudacomics.com/the_night_owls . My favorite character is without a doubt the sarcastic gargoyle, Roscoe. The writing and art on the series mess perfectly and you be left wanting more (they end it on Zuda with a cliff-hanger on the 180th page, lol). I can't wait to see what they do next. Gotta love Bobby's rendition of Firebomb in the Templar costume from SENTINELS Book 3: Echoes. Check out more of Bobby's work at http://www.twincomics.com/ .

POWER CHORD COMMISSION

Here's a recent commission I did of an original character named Power Chord. It was done in pencil, then inked and colored with Prismacolor Markers. I'm liking using markers to color stuff and think I might even try using them when I start my webcomic later this year. :)

HEARTACHE BY JACOB CHABOT

This sketch of Heartache for the 3rd Gen SENTINELS was done y Jacob Chabot. I've gotten sketches from Jacob in the past, but I have to admit, this one is my favorites from him. Check out more of Jacob's work at http://www.beetlebugcomics.com/ .

JAMIE FAY - ONE OF THE TOP 50 INSPIRING ARTISTS ON DEVIANT ART

Congratulations to Jamie Fay for being picked as one of the top 50 inspiring artists on Deviant Art by the Guide To Art Schools. The Guide To Art Schools is a great resources for artists to look into what art school might be right for them. They have all kinds of information on there about degrees and programs, as well as tips for aspiring artists. They recently added a section where they picked the top 50 artists on Deviant Art and picked Drumfish's own, Jamie Fay. Pretty cool, huh? MORE PITTSBURGH PICS!

Here are a few more pics from the Pittsburgh Comicon. You can see some of the great art Jamie and Rey did (and a quick sketch card by me, lol) as well as some of people who always make the Con so great.
