BOSTON COMICON THIS WEEKEND!

I know this is a late announcement, but in light of events in Boston, we weren't sure what would be happening this weekend. I'm happy to say though, that I will be at the 2013 Boston Comicon along with NEVERMINDS artist, Jamie Fay. We hope that by the covention deciding not to cancel the show and going forward with the it, that it brings out a lot of comic fans who, like us, want to bring some positive energy to a city that really needs it right now. If you plan to attend the show, please stop by Artist Alley and say hello to us at table AA122. We hope to see you all there!

2013 MEGACON THANK YOU AND SOME ART!

It's been an extremely busy time here as I'm working on NEVERMINDS #4, the 2nd SENTINELS Anthology and lettering the final pages of BUGGED all at the same time! Yes, I said lettering the final pages of BUGGED!!! It's actually almost finished and will be off to the printers soon. I will announce a release date shortly. But more on that (and eveything else!) later.
I'm really late posting something about the 2013 Megacon show that I attended last month and I didn't want to not say something, because we had such a great crowd of people who came buy and supported us by buying books, prints and/or original art. I really want all of them to know how much we appreciate it. We had a blast at the show and can't wait to return. I did get severely sunburned right before the show started though, so I hope I didn't scare too many people off, lol.
Megacon is such a friendly and positive show that I wish I lived closer and could go every year. We've been averaging going there every other year now. Maybe we will have to change that though, because I sold out of all the SENTINELS books I had and most of our NEVERMINDS stock. For the first time, we didn't have to have our buddies Todd and David (who live in Florida and help us with getting our books to the show) take any books home with them!
I was at Megacon with NEVERMINDS artist extraordinary, Jamie Fay, and at the table right next to us was our favorite super-colorist, Danielle Alexis St. Pierre. Danielle had her own table along with her husband, Nathan, and the two of them premiered the first issue of their book Sin of Omniscience. People really seemed to be into their book and I personally can't wait for issue #2!
I was surprised by how well my art also sold at the show and I was able to do a number of commission for people. Below are some pictures of them.
I promise to post a more detailed Con report for the rest of the show we do this year and also do them sooner! Next up is the Boston Comicon next weekend!

DREAM WEAVER ART

Here is my contribution to "Dream Weaver", a special fund raiser for Geeksout that features Sigourney Weaver in any or all of her looks in any of her movies. I picked Ripley from Aliens, of course, lol. I owed my buddy, Josh Siegel, for all the amazing art he's been doing for his story in the second Sentinels Anthology, so I had to make sure I did this. I can't wait to show some previews of Josh's story soon! This was done with Prismacolor markers and microns.

TEMPLAR IN "WAR OF THE INDEPENDENTS" PROMO AND WHO'S WHO

Back in 2005, when we had just published SENTINELS Book 2: Masks, Dave Ryan asked me if I was interested in being part of his mega-crossover "War of the Independents". I immediately said yes and Templar appeared (in his SENTINELS Book 2 look) in issue one of "War of the Independents" in the huge group shot of the issue. Fast forward a bit and we completed the SENTINELS series, but Templar hadn't yet made another appearance in "War of the Independents". I spoke with Dave and he reported that he was scheduled to appear in issue #6 (issue #3 was the latest to come out). Then this promo image appeared online and it was very cool to see Templar (now in his SENTINELS Book 4 look) on the image. He can be seen near the bottom of the page with his sword over the "R" in the word "WAR".
Dave decided to do a "Who's Who" in the "War of the Independents" and Luciano Vecchio and I decided to use the re-visioned colors for Templar's entry here.
These bio pages for the "Who's Who" have inspired me to update all of the Drumfish characters in a similar style for the new Drumfish Productions website we're working on.  More soon!!

SOME ART TO SHOW!

I've been really bad at updating this blog regularly. I've been keeping up with things on the Drumfish Production Facebook page, but I often forget to post here. Sorry about that!
Megacon wiped me out! I'll post a report in a few days, but it was a great show. Thanks to everyone who stopped by and said hello.  :)
In the meanwhile, he is some amazing art by a few very talented artists!
First up is a sketch of Crusher from SENTINELS. This sketch was drawn by Bernce and is a character study done in preparation for the Crusher story in the second SENTINELS ANTHOLOGY that we are working on. As we get closer to having the book complete, I'll post more art and info. But for now, I hope this peek at how talented Bernce is, we be okay. Check out his page on deviantArt here.
Next up is an amazing group shot of the main NEVERMINDS team drawn by Ivan Camelo. Ivan has a really cute art style that I think is very unique. But don't take my word for it, check it out more of his art here.

LANTERN HEADSHOTS!

Here are a bunch of Green Lantern themed headshots! These are all done in preparation for convention season which starts with Megacon on March 15, 16 and 17! I'll be in Artist Alley (table - purple 18) along with the Neverminds team (Jamie Fay and Danielle Alexis St. Pierre). Jamie will be sharing a table with me and Danielle will be right next to us at her own table with Mr. St. Pierre (Nathan!). Stop by and say hello!

MEGACON REMINDER FOR DRUMFISH FIGURINES!

I'll be a Megacon in Florida from March 15-17 (in Artist Alley at table "purple 18") along with the NEVERMINDS crew and I wanted to post this message about the Drumfish Productions figurines. Unfortunately, because of us traveling so far for the show and having so much merchandise to bring, we have decided not to bring the figurines to the show unless they are for someone that has pre-ordered them. We want to make them available to everyone and hope this note will serve as a reminder for anyone who still wants to order any or all of the four figurines we have out (Alanis and Samanya from NEVERMINDS and Firebomb and Templar from SENTINELS). If you plan to go to Megacon and want us to bring one or all of the figurines, please message us on here! Thanks!!

DCNU SUPERGIRL, BATGIRL AND WONDERGIRL PRINT BY THE NEVERMINDS TEAM!

The NEVERMINDS team of myself, Jamie Fay and Danielle Alexis St. Pierre plan/hope to do a few conventions together this year and we thought it would be great to do some collaboration prints for the shows. Here is the first set consisting of Supergirl (drawn by me), Batgirl (drawn by Danielle) and Wondergirl (drawn by Jamie). All of them are in their DCnU costumes and all of them were colored amazingly by Danielle! We'll be doing our first show of the year in March at Megacon in Florida and will be in artist alley at tables "purple 17 and 18". Stop by and say hello!

RECENT HEADSHOTS AND COMMISSIONS

WOW! I didn't realized that I haven't posted so many recent sketches that I've done. A few of these are commissions (that I really loved how they came out!) and others are headshot sketches done ion preparation for Megacon coming up in March! Sorry for the art dump here!

SIN OF OMNISCIENCE BY DANIELLE ALEXIS ST. PIERRE AND NATHAN ST. PIERRE

I always love when I can promote the talented people I work with and share the other amazing work they do!
In honor of her birthday today, I want to show the cover for NEVERMINDS colorist, Danielle Alexis St. Pierre's own book that she is doing with her husband, Nathan St. Pierre! Danielle and Nathan will release their first book from their company, odd19 Studios, titled Sin of Omniscience. I was... lucky enough to get a sneak preview and it's definitely something for them to be proud of. Danielle's art is crisp and clean with her coloring only enhancing her style. All of which compliments Nathan's witty dialogue and plot. But don't just take my word for it, check out their website at www.odd19.com and learn more about Sin of Omniscience and their studio!

NEVERMINDS CHARACTERS BY ROYCE SOUTHERLAND

In the same theme as the series of NEVERMINDS headshots that have been drawn by others, Jamie Fay had Royce Southerland draw 4 more of the NEVERMINDS characters. Here are Cody, Paige, Gavin and Isha. I really love Royce's style and think he did an amazing job on capturing each character's personality. I also love the background elements he added. Please check out more of Royce's work here!

HEADSHOT SKETCHES BY JAMIE FAY AND LUCIANO VECCHIO

So, usually at comic conventions I have a couple of sketch books and I have artists draw some of the different Drumfish Productions characters in them. I really enjoy seeing all the different takes on characters and the amazing styles that each artist has. But having sketches in a book doesn't really enable me to display the art in there. So, even though I plan to continue getting sketches in my sketch books, I designed a bunch of large art boards with squares on them that I plan to have friends and different artists who's work I admire draw on them. Of course, I had to get Jamie Fay and Luciano Vecchio be the first to draw on these! Both of them drew three character each; one from SENTINELS, one from NEVERMINDS and one other character that I don't want to show until we are close to printing the 2nd SENTINELS Anthology. Luciano drew Templar from SENTINELS and Samanya from NEVERMINDS. I found this interesting because it's very clear that Templar is the leader of SENTINELS, but I never told Luciano that Samanya is the leader of the NEVERMINDS team when they are out on the field. But he ended up drawing both leaders (and maybe a third, lol, tease). And on the flip side, Jamie Fay drew Alanis from NEVERMINDS and Gospel from SENTINELS. I thought this was interesting too because Jamie drew both of the sensitive and intuitive characters from each book (and the third character he drew fits right in that theme too!). I'm proud to be working with such great artists and friends and I hope to keep posting pictures from this side-project until it's complete and I can show the entire thing. The scans do not do them justice. And just know that these are small in size, about 3" x 3". Here are the first four squares on the boards! Thanks again Luciano and Jamie!
