MARVELOUS COLOR EXHIBIT

For any comic fans out there that live in the NYC area, there is a exhibit in honor of Black History Month going on until February 26th right in Manhattan. The exhibit is at the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute, located off of 9th Ave on 58th Street (408 W. 58th St.) and is called Marvelous Color. The show focuses on Marvel's main black heroes, Black Panther, Blade, Falcon, Luke Cage, Storm and War Machine. It shows you a little history of each character through various artist's work as well as some new work painted right on the walls. The overall show is really interesting and the setting is unique. I love going to shows like this that support the comic industry and seeing one that spotlights some of Marvel's black heroes was great. One of the interesting things about shows like this is it gets people talking. We debated over Marvel and DC's different black heroes and how much more impact Marvel's have had and how much more interesting they are (excluding DC's recent merging of the Milestone characters). I was also stopped at the art store I went to right after the show and asked about the postcard I was carrying from the show by someone. They were so interested they said they were going there during their lunch break, lol. So, if you're in NYC this month, check out the show! You can find out more info at http://www.marvelouscolor.com/ .

Yeah, it was a good show, Jamie. Small, but good.
And I think you would have liked it, Noel. My only complaint was that I wish it was bigger!
